In 2022, we reduced the greenhouse gas emissions of our managed hotels by 7.6%. This was achieved through various initiatives in alignment with Wyndham Green, including the installation of energy-efficient lighting and HVAC controls. In 2023, we will continue to prioritise climate action, with a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by an additional 5%.

We are committed to reducing waste and increasing recycling efforts across our hotels by using standardized industry methodologies. Waste diversion efforts represent 20% of our overall Wyndham Green programme certification requirements.

Wyndham Green Certification requires our hotels to follow best practices on water conservation, including low-to-no cost upgrades that help reduce both consumption and operating costs, representing 30% of the overall requirements. In 2022, our franchised hotels implemented innovative water savings projects, such as rainwater collection systems. In 2023, we remain committed to implementing water efficiency projects at our managed hotels in water-stressed areas.

We review both our active portfolio and development pipeline, with a focus on implementing necessary mitigation measures for hotels located near areas classified under designations such as the World Conservation Union (IUCN) designation I-IV, UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites, UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserves, the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (known as the “Ramsar Convention”), and other key biodiversity areas. In 2022, we updated our biodiversity risk assessment and identified around 20 hotels located within approximately 5 km of key biodiversity or protected areas.
