Uncover the Charms of Cusco
Tour historic sites, shop for souvenirs, and head to Machu Picchu
This former capital of the Inca Empire was invaded in the 16th century by Spanish settlers who built ornate homes, churches, and plazas over Incan foundations. Today, this southeastern Peru city is an intriguing blend of old and new, which you can easily explore from our Centro Historico hotel. Stroll through the beautiful main square of Plaza de Armas and visit the magnificent Cusco Cathedral, showcasing colonial paintings and other artifacts, and the Coricancha, the Inca Empire’s most important temple. At night, this area comes alive with buzzing bars and clubs. Trek through the stone walls of the 15th century Incan complex of Sacsayhuaman, peruse the colorful San Pedro Market for handmade souvenirs like alpaca sweaters and delicious eats, and tour an artisanal chocolate factory or take a chocolate-making workshop at the Chocolate Museum. You can also board the Peru Rail or Inca Rail to awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, an Incan citadel in the Andes Mountains that is the most visited tourist site in Peru.
